Fighting in Orlu, Nigeria

On January 25, 2021, the Nigerian Military descended on Orlu in Imo State and engaged in a gun battle during their search for members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Information from witnesses confirmed that the trouble ensued after soldiers assaulted a group of young men who were having drinks in a neighborhood bar in the local government.  The men fought back and injured a uniformed officer who retreated and returned with his friends in combat gear to lay waste to the community.

The Governor of the state, Mr. Hope Uzodinma blamed militants for the chaos and has declared a dusk to dawn curfew.
